A sitemap is a list of the pages on your website particularly the most important ones. It helps to inform Google about all the pages on your site including those that are not discovered by Google’s normal crawling process. Recently, Google announced that a Sitemaps extension can now be used in providing image data to Google. This is a good opportunity for important images of the site get discovered by Google as well.
