Choosing your target keyword is one of the first steps to do in a search engine optimisation. The term “Keyword” refers to a word that a search engine user might use to find relevant web pages. The keyword must be relevant to your business and also brings in traffic.
Below are some tips to consider in choosing target keywords:
1.The keywords that you want to target must be relevant to your business and website content.
2.Target keywords containing 3 or more terms instead of 1 word. 1 worded “keywords” takes time and effort to achieve success.
3.Know what keywords your potential customers will use in searching to find your business.
4.Once you have a list of potential keywords to target you can use a keyword tool like the Google Adwords Keyword Tool (https://adwords.google.co.uk/select/KeywordToolExternal) to get the global monthly search volume so that you’ll know the competition that you are facing. This tool will also give you more keyword recommendations, adding more to your list.
5.Try and select a maximum of 3 main keywords as the primary keywords to target and the rest as variations.
