Smart Traffic SEO Tip #7 – Duplicate Pages Indexed

Google penalises sites for duplicate pages and these can create a headache when trying to secure top rankings. A quick way to find if you have duplicate pages indexed is to use the site command in Google. Type in:

site:example.co.uk

This will bring up a list of all of your site’s pages that are in Google’s index. At the top right you will see the number of results which should be around the same or less than the actual number of pages in your site. If you are seeing a lot more, say double, then it is a sure fire bet you have a problem duplicate pages in Google’s index. Using advanced search change the results per page to 100. From here you can look through and see if you have any duplicate looking titles or descriptions.
