Smart Traffic SEO Tip #61 – How to Diagnose a Site Penalised by Google
Think that your site is penalised? The appropriate action that you must take is file a reconsideration request so that Google will re-evaluate your site. Before you do that though you must make sure that all the issues are removed. Below are steps to make sure that your site is already clean and ready to get reindexed.
1.Check for accidental blocking, either by robots.txt or meta robots tag.
2.Check in Google Webmaster Tool for any alerts or crawl errors report.
3.Check the site for possible hacker attacks.
4.Check the profile of the incoming links (inbound links). Particularly the negative changes of the backlinks which may seem unnatural that might cause the penalties.
5.Check your sites external links if there’s any links that are pointing to low quality and banned/penalised domains.
6.Check if your site’s pages return a proper header status response. Note that pages with 404 responses and broken links affect the site from getting crawled as a whole.
7.Review your site’s content. Check if there’s any content that is being duplicated in the entire pages of the site.
