Instant Previews – Googles New feature

Google launched Instant Previews, a new feature in search result that enables users to see the visual preview of each ranking page (see screenshot below).

Instant Previews

You can view the visual preview of a page by clicking on the small magnifying glass that appears at the end portion of each listing. This is really helpful to the searchers, making it easier and quicker to decide of which page to click on. It also allows one to see the content of the page in search results without leaving Google.

Sometimes, visual preview highlight (in orange) relevant snippets on the page through “call outs” as shown in the image below:

This new feature is also a challenge for site owners. Unimpressive site-layout and designs now affects greatly CTR of one site. This will then require some sites to improve their web designs, making them more attractive and clickable.

You can read Google’s announcement at this page. Google clearly states that: “Instant Previews does not change our search algorithm or ranking in any way”.
