Smart Traffic Reviews: Getting to know Bing
The main goal of Bing is to help users’ complete tasks with fewer keystrokes and clicks. Above all instances, their top priority is to deliver the best kind of results, thereby improving user experience in general. This entails the inclusion of a range of tools allowing for the narrowing down of search results.
Among them are changes made to Bing’s Webmaster Tools arsenal. Here is a walk-through for account users should follow. First things first, register an account in Bing but if you already are a registered user then congratulations and welcome to Bing Webmasters Tools. Here are some important tips that you must consider upon using the Webmaster Tools.
Site Registration:
Register the sites based on the specific site branch you manage. If you own the site’s domain, then register the site at the root. But if you work for a very large website and manage only a subsection of the site, you can register just that subdomain or subdirectory. To make this work, just place the Bing-provided ownership verification code at the registered location (the registered root). Below is an example on how the site registration looks like.
On the SEO’s perspective, having the site registered and index automatically in Bing is already a great benefit for us!
How the Verification Code Works
Verification code will allow you to limit the crawler’s permission to access your site. Just remember, existing sites should use the codes they were previously assigned, and newly added sites should use the new code. The new code will be consistent for all new sites you add to your account going forward. Always remember, do not swap the verification codes between the old and new XML files or <meta> tags. If you must update all of your registered sites with the new verification code, you can force your old sites to use the new code by removing them and re-adding them on the Home page.
Step in to the Features:
CHARTS
The charts in the Crawl Summary, Index Summary, and Traffic tools all offer x-axis slider controls so you can adjust the data’s amount of time and the portion of the timeline shown. Clicking and dragging the chart’s sliders allows you to zoom in or out to the granularity you want to see. Notice that as you pause your mouse pointer over the data lines in any of the charts (including those in the Dashboard tool), individual points in time are shown and the related data details are revealed in the chart’s upper left corner. Amazing right? Try it yourself and believe me you will surely be stunned with the feature as much as I did.
ACCOUNT DASHBOARD
On this feature you will clearly see the stats of your chosen site with regards to the Clicks, Impressions, Page Indexed and Page Crawled.
Also, on this page you can manage to do the following task:
- Add sites
- Remove Sites
- Export data
- Click on a site to get to its dashboard
