Smart Traffic SEO Tip #70 – The Use of rel=”nofollow”
The rel=”nofollow” is an attribute that can be used in the anchor links if we want to block the passing of link juice to the target pages.
Having Nofollow on all the links of the website either internal or external does not guarantee that the target pages that you want to block will not be indexed by search engines because as long as search engines find at least one Followed link, then still those pages will be crawled and get indexed.
Therefore rel=nofollow should not be used if you want to block a certain page from getting indexed. Note that links can speed up the indexing of your site particulary new pages.
