For some bird species, the process of moulting occurs during the hottest time of the year. Incidentally, the Web’s most popular feathered friend has gone through some major changes at around the same time. In April, we talked about Twitter’s lay-out improvements and new search feature on this blog. This time around, I present you with the latest developments from this popular social networking site.

1. Media results in searches. It used to be that the Twitter Search function only showed tweets that were relevant to your query. Today, you will be able to view photos and videos that are related to that topic, thing, or personality that you are looking for. Say you type in the query “football”. See the results in the screenshot below.

2. The “Follow” button. As of this writing, more than 50 major websites have currently adapted the Twitter Follow button. From the user perspective, it is a great help in being able to locate your favourite establishments or celebrities. As for vendors and bloggers looking to increase their popularity in cyberspace? Follows and retweets can never be a bad thing.

Whether you are looking for a means of social media optimisation for your site or intend to follow your favourite celebrity, explore the new and improved Twitter today!
