3 Great Tips on how to maximize your anchor text in Link Building.
Plural and Singular use in anchor text for link building has always puzzled SEO professionals.
I have taken a deeper look on this aspect by conducting some sort of experiment. The results are below:

The above table means that, for a plural Google search, say for example “Baseball bats”, the URL at number 1 Position will
have 86% probability of having also a plural form in its anchor text. This means further that if the top ranking page has 1000 back links, 860 of it are using plural form in anchor text. While about 140 of it (13.55%) are using singular form and the rest are using plural and singular together.
Now let’s take a look at singular forms,

Amazing, the probability looks very similar to the plural results. This study recommends the following:
a. If you are optimizing the plural form of keyword in your campaign, use plural form also in the anchor text to have 86% probability of having relevance to that keyword.
b. If you are optimizing the singular form of keyword in your campaign, use singular form also in the anchor text to have 88% probability of having relevance to that keyword.
c. Do not use plural and singular together in the anchor text, the probability of having that relevance is below 2%. This also suggests that Google hates to rank anchor text that seems to be stuff/spammed with keywords. It looks unnatural and natural users most likely do not use that also.
