Google Reconsideration Request is important for Newly Acquired Domains

You may have acquired a new domain which you do not know the history of. Then you proceed putting new content on the site describing your services, products and about your company. After that you are now starting to market the site through Search Engine optimisation so that you can have new unique and targeted visitors coming to your site as a result of Google ranking improvements.

Months after you still have not seen results, your SEO company cannot see a major problem also. The most likely cause is your domain history. Google considers domain history in ranking sites, in fact, if your domain has been flagged with heavy spam the penalty continues even the old owner decided to sell the domain. This situation occurs more regularly than you may think and many complaints have been raised to Google and in different SEO forums why their site still not ranking despite ethical SEO methods being used on their website.

Google’s Matt Cutts pointed out several times that a website may have been practicing black hat spamming before and receives a penalty that has not been removed. In relation to this, he advises to file a reconsideration (or re-inclusion) request if you have acquired a new domain to make sure all penalties of the previous owners are cleared. To do this is very easy: you will have to verify your site in Google webmaster tools. Then in the “Dashboard” look for “Reconsideration Request”. You will have to declare to Google that:

a. You have checked your site and currently there are no serious spam violating Google guidelines.
b. You are the new verified owner/webmaster of the site.

Finally you will inform them that you are the new site owner and that you do not know the history of your domain as it may have been practicing black hat methods and is still penalized in Google.

If you will do this, Google will read and action your request in a couple of weeks. Remember that Google will not give replies to any reconsideration request except if it is very important and needed by them. This is very rare.
