Tips in getting more website traffic: Targeting Long tail phrases

Getting more website traffic is the single step in any customer conversion process. After all, no one will be converted if there is no visitor in the site. A common answer is to target competitive phrases which will received high search volume in Google. It may be feasible but you are only looking at the tip of an ice berg.

Statistically,only 40% of the traffic will be from competitive key phrases you will be targeting, this is commonly called as “short tail keywords”. Example of short tail keywords are “seo”, “cars”, “songs” and household terms as you may know.They are mostly one worded phrase or up to two worded key phrase, difficult two worded are phrases like “buy viagra” is considered “short tail”.

The other 60% of the traffic will be from what so called as “long tail keywords”. They are what so called “easy keywords” like “companies in london specializing in seo”. Got it?

So how to optimize?, very simple…your content contains thousands of long tail variations. So you need to have good content to attract long tail phrases traffic. In the long run, it will attract substantial traffic compared to short tail keywords.
